Thomas Transfer was officially founded in Palo Alto, California
in 1944. From an all-purpose service facility that included auto maintenance,
an ambulance service and a small bobtail truck, the moving business began by
providing Stanford
University with student
and faculty luggage deliveries. In 1966 we became an agent for Atlas Van Lines
and by the late 1960's, began relocating employees for local corporations. We
moved to our present location in Mountain
View, California in
1968. We are family owned and operated, and a California PUC-certified woman
owned small business. Our dedication to customer service continues today and is
reflected in the comments
of our customers and the commendations we
receive.
Atlas Van Lines was formed in 1948 by a group of
33 individual moving firms whose common interest was to provide movement of interstate
household goods. Today, Atlas is the 2nd largest carrier. They are affiliated
with nearly 800 agents world-wide, located in over 140 countries. Presently,
Thomas Transfer and approximately 65 other agents are shareholders of Atlas Van
Lines. Nine out of ten Atlas agents are at least second-generation movers. Our
affiliation with Atlas Van Lines began in 1966.
